Report Writing Guidelines

Now that you have had the experience negotiating over the Web using the negotiation support system INSPIRE, write a report for the instructor who will teach this ESL course next term. The purpose of this report is to evaluate INSPIRE as a language teaching and a negotiation teaching tool and decide if you would recommend it for ESL courses. It is assumed that the instructor for whom the report is written does not know INSPIRE.

Before you set off on this writing task, go carefully through all the materials (handouts, negotiation journal, computer printouts, etc.) and select information that is relevant to the purpose of this report. Your report should not exceed 4 double spaced pages. Your report should include the following sections:

Executive Summary

Introduction

Background
What is INSPIRE?
Why are you evaluating it and who are you evaluating it for?
What exactly are you going to do in this report?
What is your recommendation?

Also give an outline of the report.

Scope
Criteria, i.e. usefulness to language teaching, and as a negotiation training tool.

Method
Description of your experience with INSPIRE: i.e. the pre-negotiation stage, the negotiation stage and post-negotiation, if applicable.

Recommendation
Refer to the criteria

Discussion
Discuss strengths and/or weakness, make suggestions

Conclusion

Illustrations
