Collaborative Dictation |
The purpose of this activity is to practice note-taking, develop collaboration skills and discuss lexical and grammatical features of the text. Read out one or both of the following texts to the class.
Avoiding: Negotiating parties may approach conflict and decide to avoid it. If a negotiator neither pushes for his own objectives nor shows concern for the others objectives, he is avoiding the conflict. Avoiding is akin to withdrawal from the conflict situation. The consequence is that the other person can do what he wants. Avoiding is an approach that may be used when a negotiator fears conflict, when the issues are seen as too insignificant to bargain over, or when he/she wants to stall or delay a negotiation. The consequences are that the opponent and the conflict may "go away", or that they may be put off to a future time.

The parties understand that they share a problem in terms of shared goals and interests. Each party states his needs, and the parties work together to invent options that will meet these needs in an optimal manner
